Review of "Sunset" from September 2005 Swiss Newspaper "Aargauer Zeitung!" by Robert Pally.

(pal)

Here is my admittedly poor translation.  My German is VERY rusty (I took 4 years of German in high school back in the early 80s), and I had to rely on Babelfish to translate some of the phrases for me. (Contains some corrections from Bernd Hohmann. [Thanks!] Also contains some corrections from Roger Ruthberg. [Thanks!])

Back in the memory

Klaatu is history for today. In the 70s people thought the Canadian group was the Beatles; the Carpenters even covered their song "Calling Occupants". Giving still more grounds for thinking this, the double CD "Sunset: 1973-1981" brings those memories of Klaatu rushing back. The trio not only had three talented songwriters, but also a sure hand for great pop songs that came on playfully, veered off into Artrock or bathed in Bombast. The 41-song strong selection of demos, unreleased and rare songs gives another overview of these qualities. (pal)
